MP-40 Schmeisser Steel Series
Combat prototype
MP-40 was a modification of the MP-38 submachine gun, which in turn was a modification of the MP-36 - a weapon that underwent field tests in Spain. MP-40, like MP-38, was designed primarily for tankers, motorised infantry, paratroopers and infantry platoon leaders.
This gun is often referred to as Schmeisser, after the German gunsmith, although the creator of MP-40 was the talented designer Heinrich Vollmer. MP-40 is the most famous German submachine gun of the Second World War, despite the fact that Wehrmacht troops were poorly armed with it.
Characteristics of design
Abstracting from the weapon purpose and simply looking at the design, we have before us the most refined barrel in the Historic Weapons category. The magazine, buttstock, barrel, grip - the elegance and uncluttered details are a joy to the eye.
The Steel series indicates that the weapon body is fully metal and will stand up to hundreds of games. The bolt carrier is used for reloading. Together with the buttstock, these are the only running parts. Everything else is monolithic.
Durability properties are unquestionable. The pistol grip has a corrugated surface and an adequate inclination angle. The trigger is stiff and retains the character of that era. The standard sights require skill, but are generally comfortable, taking 1-2 games to adapt. The game set is additionally equipped with a carrying sling clamp for the tactical strap.
